These terms apply to everyone who registers for or takes part in the Oman Obstacles Challenge (OOC) at the Bidiya Sands Carnival 2026, organised by OITE. By registering you confirm that you have read and accept them. The full rules, refund policy and liability waiver are presented at registration and form part of your entry.

1. Eligibility

  • Minimum age on race day: 16 for Open and Team, 18 for Elite and Corporate.
  • Runners aged 16 or 17 need the written consent of a parent or guardian, given at registration.
  • Team entries are 3 to 5 runners. Corporate entries are teams of 4 or more from the same organisation.
  • Registration details must be true and complete. You may be asked to show photo ID at race pack collection.

2. Waiver and assumption of risk

Obstacle racing on sand involves climbing, crawling, carrying, jumping and running over uneven ground, in heat and dust, and carries a real risk of injury. When you register you will be asked to accept a liability waiver. By accepting it you confirm that you take part voluntarily and at your own risk, to the extent permitted by Omani law. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

3. Medical fitness

  • You confirm that you are in good health and fit enough for a 5 km obstacle race in desert conditions. If in doubt, consult a doctor before registering.
  • You agree to complete the medical declaration honestly and to tell us about any condition that the medical team should know about.
  • Do not race if you feel unwell on the day. The medical team and marshals may stop any runner they believe is unfit to continue, and their decision is final.
  • You consent to receiving first aid and emergency medical treatment if needed.

4. Rules and conduct

  • Start in your assigned wave, wear your bib visibly, and follow the marked course.
  • Marshals have the final say at every obstacle. Follow their instructions at all times.
  • Elite runners must complete every obstacle. Open runners may skip an obstacle and take a time penalty. Teams start and finish together.
  • Cutting the course, unsafe behaviour, using another person's bib, or abuse towards runners, volunteers or staff can lead to disqualification without refund.
  • Respect the desert: use the bins provided and leave no litter on the course.

5. Photography and filming

The event will be photographed and filmed. By taking part you agree that photos and video in which you appear may be used by OITE and its partners for event coverage, results, social media and promotion of future editions, without payment. If you have a specific concern, contact us before race day.

6. Changes, weather and cancellation

  • Safety comes first. We may change the course, start times or obstacles, delay or shorten the race, or cancel it because of heat, wind, sandstorm, rain, an instruction from the authorities or any other safety reason.
  • Refunds, transfers and deferrals are handled per the policy published at registration.
  • We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs you incur.

7. Personal belongings

Leave valuables at home. OITE is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings at the venue.

8. Personal data

We handle your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman, and the courts of Oman have jurisdiction over any dispute.
